At the beginning of the season, the Atlanta Tip-Off Club sends out a list of 50 college basketball players on their watch list for the Naismith Award, which is given annually to the best player in college basketball. With the season winding down towards the conference and NCAA tournaments, the club has dropped 20 players from the list as they get closer to naming the Naismith Award winner.

Twenty fewer players are on the candidate list for the award given to the best college basketball player.


Some conference tournaments will get underway late next week with the rest starting the following week, but the voting doesn’t take place until April so many of these players will get the Big Dance to impress voters. Kentucky center Anthony Davis picked up the award last year. Ralph Sampson and Bill Walton have won the most Naismith awards with three a piece.
