With the loss, Arizona now falls a half-game behind Oregon for first place in the Pac-12. USC climbs to 8-7 in the league and is looking to position itself for a Pac-12 Tournament run coming up in March.

USC took the lead for good on a Byron Wesley three with 10:35 remaining in the first half, and held on thanks to a scintillating 61 percent shooting mark for the game. Wise made nine of his 12 attempts, and J.T. Terrell shot 5-of-8 to account for most of his 14 points.

Jio Fontan was the catalyst to the Trojan offense. He had 12 points and found his teammates for nine assists.

Solomon Hill led Arizona with 21 points. Mark Lyons made 12 of his 16 attempts from the line to offset a tough shooting night. Two of those attempts came with 11:48 left in the game, bringing the Wildcats to within four at 62-58. But from there, USC scored the next nine straight to reclaim a double-digit advantage. A Fontan jumper capped the run as the Trojans countered every punch that Arizona threw the rest of the way.
