Big Monday viewer’s guide: Syracuse and Notre Dame square off in top 25 showdown

Three ranked Big East teams will take the court on a Monday night highlighted by No. 9 Syracuse’s showdown with No. 25 Notre Dame.

USA TODAY Sports

What this night lacks in quantity it will more than make up for in Fran Fraschillas.

No. 25 Notre Dame at No. 9 Syracuse (7 p.m./ESPN)

The suddenly struggling Orange look to avoid their third straight loss by beating a Notre Dame squad that again boasts a national ranking after a one week hiatus from the polls. Syracuse has won 35 straight games iside the Carrier Dome, the nation’s longest home court winning streak. Notre Dame’s Jack Cooley looks like Luke Harangody. That’s one interesting fact about both teams playing in this game.

George Mason at Old Dominion (7 p.m./NBC Sports Network)

It’s still almost shocking to look at Old Dominion’s profile and see 2-19, 0-9 staring you in the face. The Monarchs come into tonight shooting 38.5 percent from the field, good for 332nd best in the country.

Oklahoma at Iowa State (7 p.m./ESPNU)

Each team has a solidified reputation for being dangerous, but now both are looking to obtain top tier status in the Big 12. Whoever walks out of Hilton Coliseum with a dub tonight will have taken a large step towards making that happen. Iowa State is incredibly hard to beat at home, but something tells me (HOT INTERNET TIP) that this is going to be entertaining. Inform your cable company or satellite provider that you’d like ESPNU in your house today.

Texas at West Virginia (9 p.m./ESPN)

The two most unnecessarily televised teams in the country meet in a showdown to see which one can make America change the channel the fastest.

Seton Hall at No. 23 Pittsburgh (9 p.m./ESPNU)

I’ve watched Seton Hall more than I’d care to admit over the past three weeks, and they always look like a team on the precipice of completely giving up. I can only assume that seeing DePaul above you in the conference standings has that type of effect. Pitt is riding high after its convincing win over Syracuse, but with a Cincinnati/Marquette/Notre Dame stretch looming, this is one the Panthers can’t afford to overlook.
