No. 17 Cincinnati vs. Providence final score: Friars hold on, upset Bearcats, 54-50

Despite poor shooting from beyond the arc, the Friars held on to a five-point halftime lead to beat Cincinnati.

Kadeem Batts had his best night in conference play and led the Providence Friars to a 54-50 upset of the No. 17 Cincinnati Bearcats on Wednesday. A poor night shooting from beyond the arc, at just 11.8 percent, nearly doomed the Friars — but they were helped by the Bearcats' less-than-stellar night from the charity stripe. Cincinnati hit just 55 percent of their shots from the free throw line.

Batts finished the night with 25 points for the Friars. He was joined in double figures by Bryce Cotton, who ended the evening with 11 points despite hitting just two of his 10 shots. The Friars shot 59.3 percent from inside the three-point arc, helping their poor night from downtown.

The Bearcats finished with two players in double figures, led by Sean Kilpatrick with 13 points and JaQuon Parker with 12 points. The Bearcats hit the offensive glass hard, ending the night with 14 offensive rebounds.

Providence faces the South Florida Bulls on Saturday, while the Bearcats head home to face the Pittsburgh Panthers on Saturday.
