The Akron Zips and Ohio Bobcats were the class of the Mid-American Conference during the regular season -- both teams finished league play with 14-2 records, and both of Ohio's losses came against the Zips. Technically, Akron won the regular season title thanks to that sweep of the Bobcats.
MAC basketball standings 2013: Akron, Ohio dominate league
The Zips and Bobcats both won 14 of 16 conference games, but they also both have work to do in order to make the NCAA tournament.

No other schools in the conference seriously challenged for the title -- only Toledo and Western Michigan also cracked the double-digit win barrier, and they finished a distant four games behind the Zips and Bobcats.
Despite their outstanding regular seasons, Akron and Ohio both may need to win the conference tournament in order to make the NCAA tournament. SB Nation bracketologist Chris Dobbertean has only one team from the league in the field of 68. The Zips were the only MAC team in the RPI top 50 as of March 4, and after closing out the year with a loss at home to Kent State on Friday, they could find themselves dropping in the ratings.
