2013 Summit League tournament results and bracket: IPFW, North Dakota State move on to semifinals

The Summit League semifinals are now set after IPFW and North Dakota State knocked off their quarterfinal opponents Sunday.

Greg Smith-US PRESSWIRE

The 2013 Summit League tournament wrapped up its quarterfinal round on Sunday. Only four teams are left vying for the automatic NCAA bid, but they’ll have to get through South Dakota State and Western Illinois, the two top teams in the conference, first.

Let’s recap Sunday’s action:

No. 5 IPFW Mastodons 91, No. 4 Oakland Golden Grizzlies 72

Frank Gaines scored 23 points and Luis Jacobo had a double-double (18 points, 12 rebounds) as the Mastodons dominated the Grizzlies from start to finish. IPFW shot an impressive 62.5 percent from the field, compared to Oakland's 35.5 percent, and dominated the rebound battle, 44 to 26. The Mastodons will face South Dakota State on Monday.

No. 3 North Dakota State Bison 69, UMKC Kangaroos 58

UMKC actually led this game at halftime, 22-19, but the Bison ripped off a 17-3 run at the start of the second half, putting this one away quickly. Taylor Braun led with 27 points and Marshall Bjorklun had a double-double (18 points, 10 rebounds). North Dakota will take on Western Illinois in the semis.
