CAA Tournament 2013 Championship: Game preview for Northeastern vs. James Madison

James Madison will get another chance to beat Northeastern after a close loss in the regular season.

Peter Casey-USA TODAY Sports

The top-seeded Northeastern Huskies needed a jumper with three seconds remaining by David Walker in order to beat Colonial Athletic Association rival James Madison in the regular season. The Dukes will get another chance at Northeastern at 7 p.m. Monday on the NBC Sports Network in the CAA tournament final as both teams advanced with wins Sunday.

Northeastern advanced after Jonathan Lee hit a game-winning basket with three seconds left against George Mason. The Huskies had trailed by as many as 24 in that game. Lee is one of four Huskies to average double figures in scoring for the season, averaging 13.8 points per game. Joel Smith leads the team in scoring at 16.5 points per game. Quincy Ford averages 12.9 points per game and Reggie Spencer averages 10.0 points per game. Northeastern had struggled a bit down the stretch in the season, losing three of the team's final five games prior to the CAA tournament, but still managed to win the regular season league title.

James Madison also survived a close semifinal game, beating No. 2 seed Delaware 58-57. That was James Madison's third win over Delaware this season. Four players also average double figures for the Dukes, led by Rayshawn Goins at 12.9 points per game. Devon Moore averages 11.6 points per game, A.J. Davis averages 11.5 points per game and Andrey Semenov averages 10.0 points per game.
