Conference USA Tournament 2013 schedule and bracket: Lower seeds kick off Wednesday action

UAB, Houston and Tulane are the teams to beat in Day 1 of the 2013 C-USA Tournament.

The 2013 Conference USA basketball tournament tips off on Wednesday with the lower-seeded teams fighting to play the top five seeds, all of whom have byes until Thursday.

The UAB Blazers open the tournament with a 7-10 matchup against the the underdog SMU Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. ET. That game will be followed with the No. 6-seed Houston Cougars playing the No. 11 Rice Owls at 7 p.m. The third and final game of the day between the No. 8 Tulane Green Wave and No. 9 Marshall Thundering Herd tips at 9:30 p.m.

The No. 1-seeded Memphis Tigers have a bye along with Southern Miss, UTEP, East Carolina and Tulsa. The latter two, as four and five seeds, face one another in Thursday's night cap.

Memphis takes on the winner of Tulane and Marshall, Southern Miss will play the winner of UAB and SMU, and UTEP awaits either Houston or Rice.
