Texas A&M vs. Auburn preview: Can Aggies make a run in SEC Tournament?

Things set up favorably in the SEC Tournament for Texas A&M if it beats Auburn on Wednesday.

USA TODAY Sports

The Texas A&M Aggies enter their game against the Auburn Tigers in the opening round of the 2013 SEC Tournament on Wednesday as the only team among the league's bottom four seeds with a winning record on the season, despite finishing 7-11 in conference play.

The Aggies notched victories over several teams likely to earn at-large NCAA Tournament bids, including the Kentucky Wildcats and Missouri Tigers, proving they have the ability to hang with good teams. Will that allow Texas A&M to make a run of some kind in the league tournament?

Assuming the Aggies get past woeful Auburn, two teams they’ve already beaten await in the following rounds in Missouri and the Ole Miss Rebels. That sets up some interesting possibilities for A&M, which lost only three SEC games by more than 10 points.

Texas A&M beat Auburn in the only meeting between the two schools, 65-56, on Feb. 20. Auburn finished in last place in the SEC with a 3-15 record in conference play and went 9-22 overall.

Game time, TV: 10 p.m. ET, SEC Network

Location: Bridgestone Arena, Nashville
