Big East basketball tournament 2013 schedule and bracket: Syracuse, Villanova take the court Wednesday

It will be a full slate of games on the second day of the Big East basketball tournament.

USA TODAY Sports

Round 2 of the 2013 Big East Tournament is already underway as play continues in Madison Square Garden on Wednesday. Cincinnati and Providence got the action going at Noon ET in New York, with Syracuse and Seton scheduled to follow in the afternoon session. Both early games can be seen on ESPN.

Providence took the only meeting with Cincinnati in the conference schedule at home. The winner on Wednesday advances to play Georgetown.

Syracuse took down Seton Hall on the road earlier this year. The Pirates earned a rematch with the Orange by surviving an ugly overtime battle with South Florida that saw the two teams combine for 88 points. Pittsburgh awaits the victor on Thursday.

The night session gets going on ESPN2 when Villanova and St. John’s square off for the right to face Louisville in the quarterfinals. The Wildcats beat St. John’s in overtime on Jan. 12. Villanova is coming off a big win over Georgetown, while the Red Storm have dropped four-straight contests.

Notre Dame and Rutgers will wrap up the day, also on ESPN2, following Villanova and St. John’s. The Scarlet Knights nearly upset the Fighting Irish at home on Jan. 16, but fell 69-66. Rutgers easily defeated DePaul to advance and play on Wednesday.

The complete schedule of Wednesday’s games is below, a full bracket can be found on the Big East Tournament’s official site.
