The Arizona St. Sun Devils are still alive at the Pac-12 Tournament following their opening round overtime win over the Stanford Cardinal on Wednesday afternoon.

It appeared ASU was going to cruise to the finish line, but a furious rally capped off with a four-point play from Aaron Bright in the final minute sent the game into overtime. The Devils controlled the tempo and avoided turnovers in the extra session, securing the 89-88 win. Two late free throws from Evan Gordon helped put the game on ice for coach Herb Sendek.
Freshman point guard sensation Jahii Carson stole the show against Stanford. Carson scored a game-high 34 points while playing nearly the entire 40 minutes. He also dished out four assists and brought down three rebounds. All-Defensive Team selection Carrick Felix recorded a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Off the bench, Evan Gordon hit a couple of key shots in the second half to finish the game with 16 points.
Stanford had their chances down the stretch, but they simply had no answers for the Devils on the defensive end for most of the contest. They allowed ASU to shoot 48.5 percent from the field, including 11-of-22 from behind the arc. Bright led the Cardinal with 27 points, while Dwight Powell chipped in with 23 points.
The Sun Devils will need to rest up quickly. They have a showdown with top-seeded UCLA on Thursday at 3 p.m. ET. Arizona State split their two meetings against the Bruins this season, with their most recent meeting resulting in an overtime loss.
