Big Ten Tournament 2013 predictions: Indiana, Michigan State picked to win conference

Many experts appear to be split on which Big Ten team will cut down the nets this week.

The Big Ten was undoubtedly the best conference in college basketball this season. As the 12 schools head for the United Center in Chicago, every team enters with hopes of claiming the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament up for grabs.

Experts are split on which team will cut down the nets in Chicago. With as many as seven teams looking like solid bets for the Big Dance, there will be no shortage of talent on display. Perhaps the most well-known college basketball analyst, Dick Vitale, picked Tom Izzo and the Michigan St. Spartans to win the league title this week.

Lead college hoops writer Jeff Goodman of CBS Sports has different ideas for the tournament. According to him, the regular-season champion Indiana Hoosiers will emerge victorious. Indiana seems to have a No. 1 seed for the NCAA Tournament locked up, but a Big Ten title would likely guarantee the top overall seed for the Big Dance.

As for Eamonn Brennan of ESPN, he sees the Ohio St. Buckeyes winning the conference. Ohio State was won five games in a row and six of their last seven, including two top-fve wins over Indiana and Michigan State.

The computer simulations give Indiana a 42.7-percent chance of winning. Ohio State is second at 21 percent, while Michigan State is not far behind at 13 percent.
