The Texas Longhorns knocked off the TCU Horned Frogs, 70-57, to move on to the Big 12 quarterfinal round.

Texas defeated TCU in the first round of the Big 12 tournament. They face Kansas State in the quarterfinals.


The game started off as a back-and-forth. Texas held a lead for most of the first half, but weren’t able to pull away. They went into the locker room up 28-26. The second half was when the Longhorns started to put the game away--they outscored the Frogs 42-31, as TCU’s shots stopped falling. The Frogs made only 33.3 percent of field goals and shot a paltry 6 of 21 three pointers. Meanwhile, Texas shot 51.3 percent from the field.
Julien Lewis came off the bench to lead the team with 19 points and four rebounds. Myck Kabongo paced the starters with 16 points, four rebounds and six assists. On TCU's side, Connell Crossland led with 11 points and Devonta Abron grabbed 11 rebounds.
Texas will go on to face Kansas State on Thursday in the quarterfinal round. At 15-16, they don’t have any NCAA tourney hopes, but they’ll be looking to play spoiler the rest of the way.
