After a 15-0 run by Georgia Tech to start the game, Olivier Hanlan had enough: The ACC Freshman of the Year hit a career-high eight threes, part of a 41-point outing that turned into a 84-64 rout for Boston College.

Olivier Hanlan had 41 points to rally Boston College back from a 15-0 deficit, turning a game that looked like a Georgia Tech romp into an easy win for BC.

At first, Boston College looked completely out of it. The Eagles missed their first nine shots, two of which were blocked, and turned the ball over against a pretty modest three-quarter court press. Meanwhile, Georgia Tech looked fine, as Marcus Georges-Hunt hit two threes as the Yellow Jackets jumped out to a 15-0 lead. Then, Boston College jumped back, with Joe Rahon drilling a three as part of nine unanswered points for the Eagles.
Georgia Tech would again push the lead to 14, but then Hanlan began to dominate. He got an and-1 and a three on back-to-back possessions, and another Rahon three capped an 11-0 run. Hanlan would drill two more threes to tie the game at 31. Hanlan would finish the half with a layup after a steal on an in-bounds pass and another three, as he finished with 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting -- four threes -- to give his team a 38-33 lead at the break.
Halftime wouldn’t cool Hanlan off. He scoreed eight of a quick 11 for the Eagles, including a three, and soon, the game was out of hand. He drilled another four three-pointers in the second half to push his total to 41, breaking Harrison Barnes’ record for points by a freshman in the ACC Tournament.
The Eagles were 14-of-24 from three, while Georgia Tech shot just 32.4 percent from the field for the game. Georges-Hunt finished with 21 points and 10 rebounds, but he didn’t have much help. Georgia Tech barely beat Hanlan, 44-41
The win is nice, but the reward for the Eagles is a matchup with No. 1-seed Miami. The Eagles did give the Hurricanes a tough time in a 60-59 loss, but a win here would be a shocker.
