The SWAC semifinals are set after two first-round games Thursday — the initial first-round game was Wednesday — and the conference is three games away from selecting its NCAA tournament representative. The SWAC tournament is without two teams because of poor APR ratings, and one because of NCAA sanctions.

Two of the SWAC’s top three teams in the regular season weren’t eligible for postseason play, but hey, somebody’s gotta win the league’s automatic berth.

No. 2 Jackson State, 66, No. 5 Alabama State, 59
This game was tight until the halftime, with Alabama State heading into the break with a 31-30 lead. But the Tigers slowly opened up a lead that got as big as 11 points. Christian Williams had 22 points on just 13 shots, while Jeff Stubbs added 18.
No. 4 Prairie View A&M 67, No. 3 Alcorn State 59
Five players scored in double figures for the Panthers, who advanced to the semifinals to play No. 2 Jackson State on Friday. Carl Blair led Prairie View with 14 points and six assists. LeAntwan Luckett finished with 19 points for Alcorn State, which finished its season 10-24.
