Florida State vs. Clemson results: Seminoles advance with 73-69 win

It’ll take something else for Florida State to get in the field of 68, and at least the Seminoles laid a foundation for that something else Thursday by moving into the ACC Tournament quarterfinals.

Okaro White scored 24 points for the sixth-seeded Florida St. Seminoles, and they advanced to the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament with a 73-69 win over the Clemson Tigers on Thursday.

Clemson led by as many as 10 points at 34-24 with 3:40 to play in the first half, and the Tigers took a 35-30 lead into halftime. But Florida State opened the second half on a 9-3 run, taking the lead on a White tip-in with 14:25 to play. The Tigers held a 45-45 tie with about nine minutes to play, and they got within two points on a Devin Booker 3-pointer with 12.8 seconds to go. But Michael Snaer hit two free throws with 6.7 seconds left to advance the Seminoles.

Florida State was 22-of-45 from the floor Thursday and held a 34-24 advantage on points in the paint.

K.J. McDaniels scored 16 points for the Tigers, who finished their season 13-19.

The Seminoles are now 18-14 and would, in all likelihood, need a second-straight ACC Tournament championship to qualify for the NCAA Tournament. They face the third-seeded North Carolina Tar Heels in Friday's quarterfinal round.
