Notre Dame went on a 25-8 run to close out the first half with a 29-25 lead, thanks to Garrick Sherman and Tom Knight, who combined to score the final 10 points of the half for the Irish.

After the break, the two teams entered a 10-minute stretch in which neither squad led by more than two points, until Vander Blue's layup at the 9:38 mark gave Marquette a 48-44 advantage. Notre Dame responded with a 15-4 run over the next six minutes, capping it off with a three-pointer from Pat Connaughton which gave the Irish a 59-52 lead with just over three minutes to play -- an advantage that the Irish would not relinquish.

Connaughton led Notre Dame with 18 points, while Jerian Grant added 17 points, six rebounds and six assists. The Irish will face second-seeded Louisville in the semifinal round on Friday.
