Miami vs. Boston College preview: Can Eagles pull off the upset?

Miami owns the No. 1 seed in the ACC tournament and is hoping to win the title for the first time in school history.

The Miami Hurricanes won the regular season ACC title and enter the tournament as the No. 1 seed. They will be taking on the Boston College Eagles in the quarterfinals Friday.

Miami rolled through the season, winning 14-straight games at one point. They were led by Shane Larkin, first team All-ACC player and one of the best players in the conference. The 5'11 sophomore point guard led the Canes with 13.7 PPG, 4.4 APG and 40.3 percent on three-point shots. Helping him out was big man Kenny Kadji (13.6 PPG, 6.9 RPG), who made the ACC All Defense Team.

The Hurricanes are stacked with talent and are widely expected to face Duke in the final round. Can Boston College stop them? Well, it’s not a complete longshot. For starters, they have ACC Rookie of the Year Olivier Hanlan (15.4 PPG, 4.2 RPG), who set the college hoops world on fire when he scored 41 points in a first-round drubbing of Georgia Tech. In addition, Miami has stumbled a bit towards the end of the regular season, losing to Wake Forest and Georgia Tech, losses that may cost them a No. 1 NCAA seed.

If Miami can keep Hanlan contained and keep playing their usual brand of stifling defense, they shouldn’t have much trouble moving on to the semifinals, but stranger things have happened during Championship Week.

Game time, TV: Noon ET, ESPN2/ACC Network
