Florida vs. LSU final score: Top-seeded Gators pound Tigers, 80-58, for trip to semis

Top-seeded Florida destroyed ninth-seeded LSU to advance to the semifinals of the SEC Tournament. Erik Murphy had a monster game as the Gators shot the lights out.

Erik Murphy had 27 points and 12 rebounds to lead the No. 13 and top-seeded Florida Gators to an easy 80-58 victory over the ninth-seeded LSU Tigers in the quarterfinals of the SEC Tournament.

Murphy scored the first basket of the game and 15 points in the first half, leading the Gators to a 43-28 halftime lead. Florida never let off the gas pedal, pushing their lead out to as many as 35 in the second half. Murphy finished the game shooting 11-of-15 and 5-of-7 from three, part of an excellent overall shooting game for the Gators. Florida shot 50.9 percent from the field and went 11-of-20 from deep.

In addition to Murphy, Scottie Wilbekin had a strong game, scoring 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting and 4-of-5 from three. Off the bench, Michael Frazier II got in on the hot shooting action, scoring 11 points on 3-of-5 shooting and 2-of-2 from long range. The Gators will face either fourth-seeded Alabama or fifth-seeded Tennessee in the SEC Tournament semifinals.

The Tigers struggled offensively all game long, shooting just 33.3 percent. Charles Carmouche was the only Tiger in double figures, scoring 14 points. LSU has no chance at an NCAA Tournament berth, so now they wait for a possible invitation to one of the other tournaments.
