Big Ten Tournament 2013 bracket: Indiana coasts, waits for Michigan-Wisconsin winner

Illinois couldn’t continue their Big Ten tourney run past No. 1 Indiana, who won, 80-64, behind 24 points and nine boards from Cody Zeller.

USA TODAY Sports

Indiana is on to the semifinals, winning 80-64 in front of a surprisingly Hoosier-centric crowd at the United Center in their first game of the Big Ten Tournament.

The Hoosiers really didn't struggle with Illinois, who were one day removed from a game-winner that ended Minnesota's Big Ten Tournament. They were quickly up 26-9, and although the Illini got the game down to single digits on multiple occasions in the second half, they never got the deficit closer than eight points. Cody Zeller led the way with 24 points and nine rebounds, while Illinois stars Brandon Paul and D.J. Richardson combined to go just 4-for-23 from the field. The win was revenge for a one-point victory the Illini managed on a Tyler Griffey layup in February.

Right now, the game to watch is Michigan-Wisconsin, with the Wolverines trying to recuperate from a tumble from being the No. 1 team in the country to being just the fifth seed in the conference tourney. They're still likely the favorites over No. 4 Wisconsin. If they make it through, it's a rematch of a pair of epic regular season games against the Hoosiers, one of which featured Jordan Morgan's potential game-winner resting on the rim Sunday with Indiana hanging on to the 72-71 win as it rolled off.
