The 2013 Mountain West Conference tournament finished up its semifinal round on Friday. Only two teams are left standing for the automatic NCAA bid. All four teams in the semis appear to be locks for the dance next week, but there was still some exciting basketball as everyone is fighting for a good seeding. Let’s recap Friday’s action.

No. 1 New Mexico Lobos 60, No. 4 San Diego State Aztecs 50

The Lobos shot 41.2 percent from the field and won the rebound battle, 40-31 on the way to an easy victory. Tony Snell led the way with 17 points, and Cameron Bairstow rung up a double-double (16 points, 11 rebounds). The Aztecs struggled finding the bucket, making only 31.3 percent of field goals.

New Mexico will be facing UNLV for the conference title on Saturday.

No. 3 UNLV Rebels 75, No. 2 Colorado State Rams 65

Katin Reinhardt scored 21 points, Anthony Bennett added 19, and the Rebels took care of Colorado State in a hard-fought victory. The main difference in the game was free throws--UNLV sank 26 of 35, while Colorado State only managed 11 of 17. For his part, Colton Iverson led the Rams with 24 points and 16 rebounds.

UNLV will take on New Mexico for all the mountains Saturday.
