On Saturday afternoon, the curtain will come down on the Mountain West Conference Tournament final between the New Mexico Lobos and UNLV Runnin' Rebels in Las Vegas.

With both teams assuredly making the NCAA Tournament, this game is all about conference glory and seeding.


New Mexico was expected to be here, coming into the tourney ranked as the No. 15 team in the nation and the conference’s top seed. UNLV showing up is also no shocker, coming in as the third seed and sporting an impressive 25-8 record (10-6 MWC).
To get here, the Lobos (28-5, 13-3) dispatched Wyoming and San Diego State on consecutive days, while UNLV took care of business against Air Force and Colorado State.
The key for New Mexico will be slowing day the conference freshman of the year, Anthony Bennett. The young Rebel forward from Canada has been lethal this season, averaging 16.2 points and eight rebounds per game, tops in both categories among UNLV players.
On the other side, keep an eye out for guard Kendall Williams, a Californian junior with great court awareness. Williams paced the Lobos in points and assists per game with13.5 and five, respectively.
