Big East Tournament 2013: Instant reactions relatively quiet after Louisville comeback

Louisville completed such an amazing comeback in the Big East tournament championship game that the next iteration of the Big East will have trouble topping it.

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

The Louisville Cardinals captured the unhinged spirit of the Big East tournament in the final game in its history before conference realignment tears it apart, turning a 16-point second-half deficit into a 78-61 win over the Syracuse Orange on Saturday night.

The Cardinals, which trailed 35-22 at halftime and 45-29 with 15:50 to play, went from down and nearly dead to better than ever—they looked like a national championship team—in a matter of minutes Saturday. A 27-3 run helped expedite that process, as 27-3 runs are often wont to do.

Over at Card Chronicle, Mike Rutherford was nearly speechless.

We’ve seen some improbable things over the past few years, but Louisville turning a 16-point second half deficit into a 17-point win...in the Garden...against Syracuse...for the last Big East championship...that ranks right up there at the top.

The Syracuse side of the story was best told - beginning with a killer headline - by Sean Keeley’s post at Troy Nunes is an Absolute Magician: Louisville 78 - Syracuse 61: Well, At Least We Beat Georgetown.

Rendered speechless, Keeley told the story in GIFs, beginning at self-congratulations and ending with a model train hitting a cat.
