The 2013 National Invitational Tournament officially tips off on Tuesday. While it doesn’t have the prestige or reputation of the other tournament starting this week, there’s still plenty of interesting basketball to be played.
NIT 2013 schedule and bracket: Kentucky, Alabama begin play Tuesday

Kentucky, Virginia, Alabama and Southern Miss earned the No. 1 seeds after missing out on the Big Dance. Three of those teams will play their first round games on Tuesday. It’s a chance for teams who felt snubbed to prove themselves and get a chance to finish out the postseason in Madison Square Garden. Not a bad consolation prize for a disappointing season.
The NIT runs through April 4 and will be broadcast on the entire ESPN family of networks. The first three rounds take place at the campuses of the higher seeds. Here’s the complete schedule for Tuesday (all times Eastern):
