The Hoyas are now a game ahead of Louisville for first place in the conference with two games remaining.

Big East player of the year candidate Otto Porter dominated the scoring for Georgetown with 28 points, 15 coming at the foul line on 18 attempts. Freshman D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera came off the bench to add nine more for the Hoyas.

Rutgers, who is now 4-12 in the Big East, actually stuck with Georgetown most of the way. The Scarlet Knights trailed by one at halftime and had the game tied with about 15 minutes left. But Porter then scored 11 of the Hoyas’ next 13 points to keep Georgetown in front.

The Hoyas never relinquished the lead after that, holding on for their 11th straight victory.

Wally Judge has 11 points and was the only Scarlet Knight in double figures. But Rutgers was unable to make up for disadvantages at the line and on the boards. Georgetown held a 32-23 rebounding advantage and attempted 42 free throws, making 30. Rutgers was just 6-15 from the foul line.
