LIU Brooklyn vs. James Madison score update: Dukes take 32-31 lead at halftime

Despite not having Rayshawn Goins on the floor in the first half, James Madison holds a slight lead over the Blackbirds at halftime.

The James Madison Dukes lead LIU-Brooklyn, 32-31, at halftime of Wednesday's first round play-in game.

James Madison began the contest on a 10-2 run. The Dukes have been locked in from behind the arc thus far, going 6-for-14 in the first 20 minutes of play. LIU Brooklyn hasn’t been as fortunate with the deep ball, although three 3-pointers in the final two minutes helped push an 11-2 run to end the half.

It was surprising to see JMU move out to an early lead with star forward Rayshawn Goins sitting on the bench. Goins was suspended for the first half by the coaching staff for an off-court issue that transpired earlier in the week. He is expected to play the second half.

Charles Cooke leads James Madison in scoring with 10 points and two rebounds. A.J. Davis added eight points, while Andre Nation chipped in with seven more.

Four players currently have six or more points for LIU. C.J. Garner currently leads the Blackbirds with eight points.

The winner of Wednesday night's play-in game will take on the top-seeded Indiana Hoosiers on Friday.
