2013 NCAA men’s basketball tournament: Game time, TV schedule for Arizona vs. Belmont

The Wildcats are the program with all the history, but need to be on their toes in their NCAA Tournament opener vs. Belmont.

Jeff Gross

The Arizona Wildcats will take on the Belmont Bruins in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday. On first glance, this would seem to be an easy matchup for the Wildcats, but they had better be prepared for a tough game or they could be going home early.

Sixth-seeded Arizona started its season with a 14- game winning streak, but has failed to show a ton of consistency since that first loss against Oregon on Jan. 10. The Wildcats fell to UCLA in the Pac-12 tournament semifinals, but should enjoy a significant talent advantage over the Bruins on Thursday. Senior guard Mark Lyons led the Wildcats with 14.8 points per game this year.

Belmont is making its third straight NCAA Tournament appearance and sixth overall, and is still chasing its first win. However, the 11 seed they received in 2013 is the highest in program history, and the Bruins are facing an Arizona team prone to inconsistency. They won the Ohio Valley Conference regular season and tournament titles in their first year in the conference, and are led by senior guard Ian Clark, who scored more than 18 points per game this season.

Game time, TV: Thursday, March 21, 7:20 p.m. ET, TNT

Location: Energy Solutions Arena, Salt Lake City
