As expected, the Michigan State Spartans cruised to an easy victory over the Valparaiso Crusaders in the second round of the 2013 NCAA Tournament on Thursday. However, what perhaps was not expected was CBS play-by-play announcer Verne Lundquist's displeasure over the Spartans attempting a couple of alley-oops -- in the first half.

Verne Lundquist was mad, as The Only Colors pointed out after Michigan State’s easy win over Valparaiso in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.

With the Spartans nursing a six-point lead with less than 10 minutes remaining in the opening half, Travis Trice attempted a lob pass to Denzel Valentine which was knocked down by a Valparaiso defender. Valentine then recovered the ball and tossed a successful alley-oop pass to Branden Dawson, who flushed it for two.
The play elicited not one, but two shouts of "Oh come on!" by Lundquist, a long time broadcaster of basketball, football and golf for multiple entities. MSUDersh, a member of SB Nation's Michigan State community "The Only Colors," rightfully disagrees with Lundquist's treatment of the play:
Michigan State went on to win the game, 65-54, and will face the Memphis Tigers in the third round.
