Six lower-seeded teams picked up wins in the NCAA Tournament Friday. None, however, were more impressive than the No. 15 Florida Gulf Coast Eagles defeating the No. 2 Georgetown Hoyas 78-68.

There were several upsets on Friday in the NCAA Tournament, but none were more impressive than Florida Gulf Coast’s win over Georgetown.

Florida Gulf Coast led much of the game, including a two-point lead at halftime. The Eagles built their lead to as many as 17 points in the second half, then withstood a late run by Georgetown that cut the lead to five with a minute left to hold on.
Sherwood Brown had 24 points and nine rebounds to lead the Eagles. Bernard Thompson had 23 points and seven rebounds and Brett Comer had 12 points and 10 assists.
Florida Gulf Coast held Georgetown star Otto Porter to 13 points on 5 for 17 shooting. Markel Starks had 23 points and six assists.
South
No. 1 Kansas Jayhawks 64, No. 16 Western Kentucky Hilltoppers 57
Western Kentucky had a one-point lead at halftime and played Kansas close most of the way Friday. Jeff Withey had 17 points and six rebounds for Kansas. Jamal Crook led the Hilltoppers with 13 points and nine rebounds.
No. 3 Florida Gators 79, No. 14 Northwestern State Demons 47
Erik Murphy had 18 points and eight rebounds and Patric Young scored 16 points for Florida. DeQuan Hicks had 12 points and eight rebounds for the Demons.
No. 11 Minnesota Golden Gophers 83, No. 6 UCLA Bruins 63
Andre Hollins led the Gophers with 28 points, 10 rebounds and five assists and Austin Hollins added 16 points. Shabazz Muhammad led UCLA with 20 points, but he struggled shooting the ball, made just 6 for 18 shots.
No. 7 San Diego State Aztecs 70, No. 10 Oklahoma Sooners 55
Jamaal Franklin had 21 points and eight rebounds and James Rahon scored 17 points for SDSU. Romero Osby led Oklahoma with 22 points and eight rebounds.
No. 8 North Carolina Tar Heels 78, No. 9 Villanova Wildcats 71
P.J. Hairston had 23 points and James McAdoo added 17 for North Carolina. JayVaughn Pinkston scored 20 points, Darrun Hilliard added 18 and Mouphtaou Yarou scored 17 for Villanova.
West
No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes 95, No. 15 Iona Gaels 70
Deshaun Thomas scored 24 points and Sam Thompson had 20 points and 10 rebounds for Ohio State. David Laury had 14 points and eight rebounds for Iona.
No. 13 La Salle Explorers 63, No. 4 Kansas State Wildcats 61
Kansas State out-scored La Salle 35-19 in the second half, but it wasn't enough to overcome the first half hole they dug. Jerrell Wright scored 21 points and made all six of his shots for La Salle. Jordan Henriquez had 17 points and 12 rebounds for Kansas State.
No. 12 Mississippi Rebels 57, No. 5 Wisconsin Badgers 46
The Rebels scored the upset thanks to an offense that got going in the second half. Mississippi shot just 39 percent, including a 6 for 21 effort from star Marshall Henderson, who scored 17 points, but held Wisconsin to 25 percent shooting. Sam Dekker had 14 points for Wisconsin.
No. 10 Iowa State Cyclones 76, No. 10 Notre Dame Fighting Irish 58
In the third upset of the day in the West, Iowa State held Notre Dame to 43 percent shooting. Georges Niang had 19 points for Iowa State and Melvin Ejim scored 17. Jack Cooley scored 14 points for Notre Dame.
Midwest
No. 2 Duke Blue Devils 73, No. 15 Albany Great Danes 61
Seth Curry scored 26 points and Mason Plumlee scored 23 points for Duke. Jacob Iati led Albany with 15 points.
No. 7 Creighton Bluejays 67, No. 10 Cincinnati Bearcats 63
Doug McDermott led Creighton with 27 points and 11 rebounds as Creighton withstood a late Cincinnati run for the win. Cashmere Wright had 15 points and six assists for Cincinnati.
East
No. 1 Indiana Hoosiers 83, No. 16 James Madison Dukes 62
Yogi Ferrell had 16 points, eight rebounds and six assists and Victor Oladipo and Cody Zeller each scored 11 points for the Hoosiers. Andre Nation scored 24 points and Charles Cooke scored 18 for the Dukes.
No. 2 Miami Hurricanes 78, No. 15 Pacific Tigers 49
Durand Scott scored 21 points and Shane Larkin scored 10 for Miami. Travis Fulton led Pacific with 18 points.
No. 7 Illinois Fighting Illini 57, No. 10 Colorado Buffaloes 49
Brandon Paul had 17 points and Tracy Abrams had 13 points and six assists for Illinois. Askia Booker led Colorado with 14 points and Josh Scott had 10 points and 14 rebounds.
No. 9 Temple Owls 76, No. 8 North Carolina State Wolfpack 72
Khalif Wyatt had 31 points and five assists and Jake O'Brien scored 18 points for Temple. Lorenzo Brown led N.C. State with 22 points and C.J. Leslie scored 20 points.
