Wisconsin vs. Ole Miss: Badgers frontcourt ‘struggled’ in March Madness loss

In what was one of the uglier shooting performances in recent memory, the Wisconsin Badgers fell victim to the infamous No.5 versus No. 12 upset, losing to the Ole Miss Rebels, 57-46, in the second round of March Madness.

Wisconsin played defense like it always does, but it wasn't enough on Friday afternoon. The Rebels overcame multiple deficits to beat the Badgers, led by the always-shooting Marshall Henderson. Henderson was absolutely brutal most of the game, but came up big in the final 10 minutes to give his team a pass to the third round.

Wisconsin's frontcourt especially struggled in this one. Senior center Jared Berggren needed a 2-of-10 shooting effort to reach 8 eight [sic] points, though he did add nine rebounds and three points [sic]. Senior forward Mike Bruesewitz scored only three points and added six rebounds, and his four turnovers -- all in the first half -- were especially critical. Senior -- notice a trend? -- forward Ryan Evans struggled with his jumper, going 2-for-8 en route to five points and seven rebounds.

With the loss, Wisconsin coach Bo Ryan knows the pain of being one-and-done in the tourney for only the second time. Meanwhile, the SEC champs will now face the No. 13 La Salle Explorers, who knocked off the Boise State Broncos in the first round and then the Kansas State Wildcats on Friday.
