Florida only - only - led by eight at the half, but exploded to finish with a 79-47 win over Northwestern State.
Florida vs. Northwestern State, 2013 March Madness: Gators romp
Florida had one of their best outings of the year vs. Northwestern State, and that’s in a year filled with great outings.

The Demons were the highest-scoring team in the nation this season thanks to a breakneck pace, but they certainly didn’t look the part against the Gators. They only managed 15 points in the second half, shooting 18-for-50 from the field - 3-for-16 from downtown - and turned the ball over 15 times, with Florida stepping it up on defense. For Alligator Army, it was a fun experience:
This was a threshing, and one in which Rosario was 3-for-9 for the field in limited action while Michael Frazier missed all four of his shots. Florida left plenty on the table as a team, making just seven of their 21 threes on the night and missing nine of 23 free throws. They point out that there was a .53 point-per-possession differential between Florida and Northwestern State, one of the better outings for a squad that won all of its victories by at least 10 points. After the win, the Gators are the top-ranked team in Ken Pomeroy’s rankings.
Next up for the Gators is No. 11 Minnesota, who toppled UCLA. After Florida Gulf Coast knocked out Georgetown, their path to the Elite Eight is much easier.
