NCAA Tournament scores 2013, Louisville vs. Colorado State: Cardinals demolish Rams, 82-56

The Cardinals are headed to the Sweet 16 after winning their first two tournament games by an average of 28.5 points.

The Louisville Cardinals entered the 2013 NCAA Tournament as the top overall seed. On Saturday afternoon, they backed that up with a dominating performance over No. 8 seed Colorado State, picking up the 82-56 win to advance to the Sweet 16.

The Rams held tough with Louisville for the first 10 minutes or so, but the rout started shortly after that. Using a full-court press to their advantage, the Cardinals racked up 11 steals and forced CSU into 19 turnovers. As a team, Louisville shot 56 percent from the field and went 5-for-9 from behind the arc.

Russ Smith led the Cardinals with 27 points. Peyton Siva chipped in with 10 points, five assists, three rebounds and two steals.

Colorado State just wasn’t able to keep control of the ball long enough to put together any kind of scoring run. Greg Smith scored a team-high 14 points, while Daniel Bejarano had 10 off the bench.

With the win, Louisville moves on to face the winner of St. Louis and Oregon in the Sweet 16. The game will be played on Friday, March 29, at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
