The No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes lead the No. 7 Iowa State Cyclones, 38-36, after a hard-fought first half in which neither team could create separation. OSU's Deshaun Thomas leads all scorers with 13 points on five of nine shooting. His Iowa State counterpart, Will Clyburn, has struggled from the field, scoring 11 points on 14 shots.

The Buckeyes struggled on the glass, and that has allowed Iowa State to hang close after 20 minutes.


Offensive rebounding was key for the Cyclones in the first half, as they have hung with the Buckeyes despite nine turnovers. Iowa State snatched 44 percent of its own misses to overcome carelessness with the basketball and posted just a 40 effective field goal percentage.
Ohio State has had its own struggles from the outside, knocking down just three of 11 from beyond the arc. However, the Buckeyes have dominated the inside by hitting 11 of 19 on two-pointers and going nine of 11 from the free throw line.
Iowa State guard Chris Babb rolled his ankle near the end of the first half and was taken to the locker room.
