Arizona vs. Harvard, 2013 March Madness: Wildcats continue thriving in 3rd round

Arizona has played some of their best basketball this past week. Now, they’re headed to the Sweet 16.

For the third time in five years, the Arizona Wildcats are headed to the Sweet 16. For a team that might've felt slighted on Selection Sunday after receiving a six seed, the 'Cats have had just about a perfect draw.

In the opening round, they completely overwhelmed a Belmont team that was a trendy pick to pull the upset. On Saturday, they ended any chance Harvard had at continuing their Cinderella story, beginning the game with an 18-2 run and never looking back.

Now, Arizona will be one of four teams in the hunt for the Final Four in the West Region. It seems the Wildcats may be peaking at the right time. Here is what SB Nation’s blog, AZ Desert Swarm, had to say about the win.

The Wildcats are comfortable playing the halfcourt, and it appears that they’ve embraced their identity as an inside-out offensive ball club that also takes it easy in part to set up its very solid man defense.

Seemingly, Arizona’s biggest issues during the regular season have been answered. They’ll pick-and-choose their spots, but mostly, this team will win by slowing it down and staying patient.

With the win, Arizona marches on to face the winner of Sunday’s game between Ohio State and Iowa State in Los Angeles. Given the proximity to Tucson, UA should have a great following as they attempt to reach their first Final Four since 2001.
