2013 CBI Tournament bracket results: Patriots and Broncos advance to championship

George Mason beat Western Michigan while Santa Clara topped Wright State in the CBI semifinals Wednesday night. The Patriots and Broncos will meet Monday for the first game of a best-of-three championship series.

The 16-team CBI field has been whittled down to two. After a pair of semifinal contests Wednesday night, George Mason and Santa Clara emerged as this year’s finalists.

The two teams will begin a best-of-three series on Monday to decide a champion.

The Patriots won their home game over Western Michigan, 62-52, behind 23 points from Jonathan Arledge. He shot 7-of-11 from the field and was the only George Mason player in double figures. As a team, George Mason forced Western Michigan into committing 23 turnovers.

Santa Clara, meanwhile, had no problem going on the road to take care of Wright State, 81-69. This was partly thanks to Kevin Foster, who turned in a memorable performance with 33 points on 6-of-12 shooting from three. It was Foster’s second straight game of scoring 30 or more points, also dropping 34 on Purdue in the CBI quarterfinals. Evan Roquemore backed him up on Wednesday with 16 points.
