An intended joke from college basketball analyst Doug Gottlieb went awry Thursday night when he made a race-related comment during CBS’s pre-game segment prior to tipoff of the Sweet 16 game between Marquette and Miami.
Doug Gottlieb says he’s on CBS to ‘bring the white man’s perspective’
Doug Gottlieb got the Sweet 16 started on an awkward note Thursday by claiming he was trying to bring diversity to the CBS studio set.


Gottlieb said that he was only there to “bring diversity to the set” and give “the white man’s perspective,” to a group that is made up of him and four African-American analysts. What seemed like an awkward silence and uncomfortable laughing from the other four on set followed, as Gottlieb quickly asked what was wrong.
