UCLA coaching search: Brad Stevens ‘highly unlikely’ to leave Butler, according to report

Is Butler head coach Brad Stevens staying or going? New reports suggest the former.

Butler Bulldogs head coach Brad Stevens will likely stay at the school instead of taking the job at UCLA, a source confirmed to CBS Sports' Seth Davis on Thursday.

For more on this story, head over to Bruins Nation and Mid-Major Madness.

Stevens was reportedly in negotiations earlier in the day with UCLA to become its new head coach, but now conflicting reports suggest that the 36-year-old coaching prodigy will stay in Indianapolis, where he has taken the Bulldogs to new heights since becoming the team's head coach following the 2006-07 season.

UCLA recently fired head coach Ben Howland after the sixth-seeded Bruins were blown out in the second round of the 2013 NCAA Tournament by No. 11 Minnesota. The Bruins reached the Final Four under Howland in three straight seasons from 2006 to 2008, but haven't advanced past the third round since and missed the tournament entirely on two occasions.

Stevens owns a .772 career winning percentage at Butler, which finished 27-9 in 2012-13, its first season in the Atlantic 10 Conference. The Bulldogs will begin play in the Big East Conference beginning in 2013-14.
