Those hoping Fred Hoiberg would fill their school's coaching vacancy are in for some disappointment. The Iowa State Cyclones head coach has agreed to a 10-year, $20 million contract extension, athletic director Jamie Pollard announced Thursday night.

Iowa State head coach Fred Hoiberg was officially taken off the coaching market Thursday night when he signed a 10-year extension with the Cyclones.

Hoiberg had been rumored as a potential candidate to fill voids everywhere from Minnesota to the NBA. Instead, he is set to stay on the sideline in Ames through 2023.
In his third season at the helm, Hoiberg led the Cyclones to a 23-12 overall record and a fourth-place finish in the Big 12. Iowa State lost a close one to Ohio State last weekend in the Third Round of the NCAA Tournament. It was the second straight trip to the Big Dance for Hoiberg and the Cyclones and the first time the school reached the tournament two years in a row since 2000-01.
Hoiberg was named Big 12 Coach of the Year in 2012 after guiding Iowa State to a nine-win improvement over the previous conference campaign, which was the largest single-season improvement in conference history.
