Southern Conference basketball standings 2013: Davidson runs away with regular season title

The Wildcats are no stranger to the Southern Conference regular season championship and will be the top seed in the conference tournament. Here’s a look at the final regular season standings in the Southern Conference.

The Davidson Wildcats captured the Southern Conference regular season title in 2012, their eighth in the past 11 seasons. They went 17-1 in conference and 23-7 overall, with their only conference loss coming to Georgia Southern on Jan. 14. They've won 14 straight games since then and are the favorites entering the Southern Conference tournament, which starts on Friday, March 8, in Ashville, NC.

Elon was able to clinch the North Division crown with a very nice 12-5 conference record, comfortably clear of second place Appalachian State. Those two teams, as well as Davidson and the College of Charleston, will have first-round byes in the Southern Conference tournament.
