The No. 4 Michigan Wolverines took down the No. 1 Kansas Jayhawks Friday night in overtime in one of the best games of the tournament so far. The Wolverines advanced to the Elite Eight for the first time since 1994, after which crippling NCAA sanctions implemented as punishment for impermissible benefits to Chris Webber left the program in tatters for years.
Kansas vs. Michigan: Trey Burke leads Wolverines to Elite 8
The Michigan Wolverines upset the top-seeded Kansas Jayhawks Friday night. Saturday morning, we take the temperature of the two fanbases.

Michigan looked dead in the water for much of the game, and they were down three points with four seconds left when Trey Burke hit a long three-pointer to send the game into overtime. Wolverines fans are excited about all this. Maize N Brew, SB Nation's Michigan blog, had a wonderful reaction piece after the game. Here's a snippet:
Trey Burke wouldn't let Michigan lose. He scored all of his 23 points in the second half. Mitch McGary wouldn't let Michigan lose. He scored a career high against one of the best shot-blocking centers in college basketball. Glenn Robinson III wouldn't let Michigan lose. Even though he struggled for long stretches he managed a critical steal and two free throws in overtime to cushion a lead that Michigan would need. They all chipped in. From Spike to Morgan to LeVert. Michigan may not have had the better seed, or even the better team. But for a few minutes on this wonderful Friday in March, Michigan was every bit as good as it needed to be to weather 45 minutes of punches and still stand, hands raised in victory.
Kansas fans are still in a bit of shock Saturday morning after beating Michigan for 39 minutes only to have a Trey Burke miracle and a flawless Michigan overtime period get the better of them. Here’s a sample of the comments on Rock Chalk Talk’s game thread when Burke hit his shot:
“F—,” “From the locker room,” “No frigging way,” “wow,” “Well that was a revolting development,” and, my personal favorite, “F— you Burke, why couldn’t you have kept your commitment to Penn State?”
Considering what had just happened, that's an admirable way for a group of fans to take it. Let's go to after the game ended in the game thread, when Elijah Johnson passed up a seemingly wide open layup that could have sent the game into double-overtime:
