The 2013 NCAA Women’s Tournament tipped off its Sweet 16 round on Saturday. Half of the Elite Eight field is now set, and the regional finals will begin on Monday. But first, let’s recap Saturday’s action:

UConn and Kentucky were among four teams that punched their tickets on Saturday to the women’s Elite Eight.

No. 2 Kentucky Wildcats 69, No. 6 Delaware Blue Hens 62
Jennifer O’Neill led the Wildcats with 19 points and A’dia Mathies chipped in with 16 as Kentucky held off Delaware despite an amazing effort by Delle Donne. Donne racked up 33 points to lead the Hens, but it wasn’t enough to pull off the upset. Kentucky will face UConn on Monday.
No. 1 Connecticut Huskies 76, No. 4 Maryland Terrapins 50
Breanna Stewart and Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis both had 17 points, Stefanie Dolson grabbed 10 rebounds and the Huskies shot 47.8 percent from the floor to dominate the Terps, who made just 31.1 percent of their field goals. UConn moves on to play Kentucky in the Elite Eight.
No. 4 Georgia Bulldogs 61, No. 1 Stanford Cardinal 59
The West region’s top seed is out as the Georgia Bulldogs knocked off the Stanford Cardinal in Spokane. The Bulldogs rallied from a seven-point first half deficit. Jasmine Hassell scored six of her 13 points in the game’s final minutes. Chiney Ogwumike led the Cardinal with 26 points and 12 rebounds, playing the entire game.
No. 2 California Golden Bears 73, No. 6 LSU Tigers 63
Gennifer Brandon scored 16 points and pulled down 13 rebounds as the Cal Bears poured it on in the second half to set up an Elite Eight match up with Georgia on Monday. The Bears outscored the Tigers 47-37 in the second half and forced LSU in to 16 turnovers in route to their victory.
