The No. 1 Louisville Cardinals hold a 35-32 halftime lead over the No. 2 Duke Blue Devils on Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind.

Russ Smith and Louisville ended the first half strong after the Cardinals lost Kevin Ware to a serious injury.

Russ Smith scored 12 points to pace the Cardinals, who overcame significant adversity to put together a strong run to close the opening half.
Louisville's Kevin Ware suffered a gruesome injury at the 6:33 mark while trying to defend Tyler Thornton's three-pointer, resulting in a delay of several minutes. Duke scored six of the next eight points when play resumed to take a three-point advantage, but Louisville answered back with a similar stretch to retake the lead on Smith's pair of free throws with 2:13 remaining. Smith made two more free throw attempts at the end of the half to extend the Cardinals' lead to three.

The Blue Devils stayed within striking distance of the Cardinals despite losing Ryan Kelly for a majority of the half due to foul trouble.
