With top teams falling nearly every day, no games can be overlooked for the nation’s top teams. Two top-10 teams host conference rivals on Monday as they look to strengthen their resume before the NCAA Tournament. A one-seed in the tournament is still a possibility for both ranked teams in action on Monday if they can finish strong.
College basketball schedule: Kansas and Louisville in action Monday
Two top-10 teams are in action Monday as the Kansas Jayhawks and Louisville Cardinals host conference rivals.
Texas Tech Red Raiders at No. 6 Kansas Jayhawks, 7 p.m. ET, ESPNU
The Jayhawks (25-4, 13-3) have looked strong since their three-game losing streak in early February and are definitely in the hunt for a top-seed in the NCAA Tournament. Kansas has won six straight games, blowing out all challengers at The Phog, winning by an average of nearly 25 points per game at home over that span.
Texas Tech (10-17, 3-13) shouldn’t pose much of a threat to the Jayhawks, but this season has shown that nothing is certain. When the two teams met in Lubbock, Texas, on Jan. 12, Kansas came away with a 60-46 win. The Red Raiders have never won a game at Kansas.
Cincinnati Bearcats at No. 10 Louisville Cardinals, 7 p.m. ET, ESPN
Louisville (24-5, 12-4) is back on track and will try to stay in the hunt for a top-seed and the Big East regular season title when it hosts Cincinnati. The Cardinals have won five straight, including a win at Syracuse on Saturday; their next win will be the 300th of Rick Pitino’s career. Defense has keyed Louisville’s recent run, keeping teams to low shooting percentages and forcing the second most turnovers in the nation.
Cincinnati (20-9, 8-8) is hoping for a signature win to bolster its tournament resume. The Bearcats have lost five of their last seven, but are coming off a five-point win over UConn on Saturday. A win over Louisville would go a long way toward helping the selection committee forget about their recent struggles.
