Big South Tournament 2013 schedule and bracket: UNC-Asheville seeks third-straight title

The Big South Tournament, now expanded to 12 teams, kicks off on Tuesday with UNC-Asheville trying for its third-straight NCAA Tournament appearance.

With the additions of Longwood and Presbyterian, the Big South Tournament will feature 12 teams for the first time when it begins on Tuesday at the HTC Center in Conway, S.C. The bottom-eight seeds get play started on Tuesday with the top-four teams earning a bye into the quarterfinals.

UNC-Asheville has won the last two tournaments, but it will be a tall task for the Bulldogs to threepeat as they finished third in the South division and have lost five of their last six games. Whoever wins the tournament will likely enter the NCAA Tournament as a 16-seed and stands a good chance of playing in the First Four in Dayton, Ohio.

The High Point Panthers are the top-seed in the North, with the Charleston Southern Bobcats coming in as the top-seed in the South. Also earning first-round byes are the Virginia Military Keydets (No. 2, North) and the Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs (No. 2, South).
