Conference tournament betting previews: OVC, WCC odds

College basketball conference tournament play breaks out all over the place this week.

A couple tourneys get going Tuesday, while Wednesday the Ohio Valley, West Coast Conference, Atlantic Sun, Northeast Conference and the Patriot League all join the fray.

Here’s a quick preview of some of the upcoming college basketball odds action, with some betting futures to ponder.

The OVC begins its tournament in Nashville Wednesday as fifth-seeded Morehead State takes on eighth-seeded Tennessee-Martin, and sixth-seeded SE Missouri State battles seventh-seeded Eastern Illinois.

Thursday fourth-seeded Tennessee State plays the Game 1 winner, and third-seeded Eastern Kentucky plays the winner of Game 2.

Then Friday top-seeded Belmont and second-seeded Murray State, the defending tournament champion, get into the act, taking on Thursday’s winners.

And the OVC championship game, with an NCAA tournament berth on the line, will be played Saturday (6 pm ET, ESPN2).

Out in Vegas at the West Coast Conference tournament play begins Wednesday as eighth-seeded Portland plays ninth-seeded Loyola-Marymount. Then Thursday fifth-seeded San Francisco takes on the winner of Wednesday’s game, and sixth-seeded San Diego goes against seventh-seeded Pepperdine.

Friday third-seeded BYU and fourth-seeded Santa Clara play Thursday’s winners, and Saturday top-seeded (and national No. 1) Gonzaga and second-seeded St. Mary’s take on Friday’s victors.

Finally, the West Coast Conference tournament championship game will be played Monday night (8 pm ET, ESPN).

On the WCC tournament betting board the Zags are listed as -350 favorites, followed by St. Mary’s at +250, BYU at +500, Santa Clara at +1200, San Diego and San Francisco at +1500, Pepperdine and Portland at +5000 and longshot Loyola at +25000.
