Kevin Parrom and the Arizona Wildcats will seek a hardship waiver for a fifth season in Tucson, according to George Savaricas. Parrom, a senior, is currently a starter for the No. 20 Wildcats after beginning as a sixth man.

Few players went through more than what Parrom dealt with last year. After losing his grandmother just weeks before, he returned home to the Bronx to say one final goodbye to his ailing mother, who was battling cancer.
While visiting with a friend, intruders broke into the home and confronted Parrom. He was shot multiple times, including once in his leg. The wound caused him to miss the beginning of the 2011-2012 season. After taking a long road back to the court, Parrom broke a bone in his foot in January. He missed the rest of his junior campaign with Arizona.
His mother passed away a few days after.
Now averaging 8.5 points, five rebounds and two assists per game, Parrom is healthy. If granted the hardship waiver, he would immediately give coach Sean Miller a senior leader to rely on in 2013-2014. It is unclear if Parrom will be granted the extra year, though, especially after appearing in 21 games last season.
