The SEC had only two games Wednesday night, but those games had some significant implications for a few bubble teams and will go a long way toward determining seedings in the upcoming conference tournament.
2013 SEC basketball standings: Mizzou, Ole Miss win to complicate picture
Five teams near the top of the conference are now battling for four byes in the first round of the SEC Tournament. Florida has locked up the No. 1 seed, but Kentucky, Mizzou, Ole Miss and Alabama still have some work to do.

The Missouri Tigers blew out the Arkansas Razorbacks, shaking up the standings and giving Mizzou a much-needed boost in the team's tournament hopes. Most feel the Tigers should feel pretty safe about their tournament chances moving forward, but a couple of late-season losses would have made for a nerve-wracking selection.
Meanwhile, the Alabama Crimson Tide were unable to pick up what would have been a key road victory against Ole Miss. In what was a high-scoring affair, the Rebels came away with the 87-83 win on senior night. Neither of these teams is on the right side of the bubble at the moment, although a deep run in the SEC Tournament could change their fate for the big dance.

The SEC tournament begins March 13. Florida has already clinched the No. 1 spot, but the next three bye seeds are still up for grabs. Kentucky, Alabama, Ole Miss and Missouri all currently have 11 wins, which means one of these schools will be forced to play in the opening round. UK has two games left to play, while the other three have just one more to play this weekend.
It’s been a down year for the SEC in general, but the parity at the top should at least make for a great tournament in New Orleans. They don’t call it “March Madness” for nothing.
