Tim Floyd, the current head coach of the UTEP Miners and former coach of the USC Trojans, made a surprise visit to Southern California on Tuesday to meet with athletic director Pat Haden about a possible job opening. The Trojans fired coach Kevin O'Neill early this year, and interim coach Bob Cantu is not expected to be the permanent replacement despite the team's better play in recent weeks.
Tim Floyd rumors: UTEP coach addresses visit with USC
Following UTEP’s loss on Tuesday night, Floyd briefly met with the media to discuss his odd meeting with USC.

Following UTEP’s loss to Memphis on Tuesday night, Floyd briefly met with the media to discuss his trip to USC. He first denied rumors that he was leaving.
“I was not offered a job, nor was I looking for a job”
SB Nation’s UTEP blog, Miner Rush, also reported that Floyd felt he had the obligation to speak with his former employer despite the way the two parties parted back in the spring of 2009.
Floyd’s comments should probably be taken with a grain of salt. He is not going to publicly state at this point whether he truly intends to leave El Paso in the coming months, and his team still has important games to play this season.
