College hoops Wednesday TV guide: Regular season championship implications galore

We’ve got conference tournament games going on, 10 top 25 teams taking the court, and regular season championships being decided all over the place. It truly is the most wonderful time of the year.

David Butler II-USA TODAY Sports

DePaul at Syracuse (6 p.m./SNY/Altitude/MASN)

The Blue Demons are two losses away from guaranteeing themselves of being the bottom seed in every Big East Tournament since the field expanded to include all teams back in 2008. That’s almost impressive.

North Carolina at Maryland (7 p.m./ESPN)

The Tar Heels are making a big time push to make a lot of people take them way too far in their brackets two weeks from now.

Georgetown at Villanova (7 p.m./ESPN2)

A Hoya win locks up at least a share of the Big East title and the No. 1 seed in Madison Square Garden next week.

Oklahoma State at Iowa State (7 p.m./ESPNU)

After so many gut-wrenching losses this season almost feels like the Cyclones deserve to win this one before it even tips off. There’s no question that they need to.

Michigan at Purdue (7 p.m./Big Ten Network)

The Wolverines must win to keep hope of a shared Big Ten title alive.

Richmond at VCU (8 p.m./CBS Sports Network)

VCU is also hoping to keep its conference title hopes alive, but they’ll also be seeking revenge against a Richmond team that beat them by 12 in overtime back in January.

Vanderbilt at Florida (8 p.m./MSG)

Florida’s going to win by a lot.

West Virginia at Oklahoma (9 p.m./ESPN2)

Oh thank God. I was worried for a second that we’d go a day without a West Virginia game being on national television. The Mountaineers are 13-16, and somehow they’ve played 35 games on CBS or one of the ESPN networks.

Connecticut at South Florida (9 p.m./ESPNU)

The Bulls can lock up not being the No. 14 seed in the Big East Tournament with a win. Yeah, pretty big night at the Sun Dome.

Minnesota at Nebraska (9 p.m./Big Ten Network)

The only game preview you need:

New Mexico at Nevada (10 p.m./CBS Sports Network)

Steve Alford with a quote you don’t often hear during the last week of the regular season.

“This week, I want the players to relax. When I say relax, I don’t want them feeling pressure,” Alford said. “They’ve been under so much pressure and that pressure’s going to kick up in another week.”

The Lobos have already locked up the Mountain West’s regular season title.

Colorado State at Wyoming (10 p.m./ROOT Sports)

The Rams need a win to officially avoid falling into the same end of season slump that has plagued it in each of the past two years.

Stanford at California (11 p.m./ESPN2)

Walton Wednesday.
