Miami vs. Georgia Tech final score: Jackets win on buzzer-beating tip, 71-69

With Miami looking for an ACC Championship, Georgia Tech’s Marcus Georges-Hunt tipped in a shot at the buzzer as the Yellow Jackets pulled off the upset on the road.

USA TODAY Sports

It looked like Miami had it in the bag. Up ten midway through the second half at home against the lowly Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, the Hurricanes were on the verge of their first-ever ACC regular season title.

Instead, they fell 71-69.

It started to fall apart when a 7-0 run by Georgia Tech cut Miami's lead to two with 8:52 left. Then, Chris Bolden tied the game on a three with 4:59 to go. Marcus Georges-Hunt provided the finishing touch — a tip-in at the buzzer — to finish off the comeback and at least postpone a Miami celebration.

Kenny Kadji had 18 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Hurricanes, who will now have to wait until Saturday's game against Clemson to try and clinch the ACC title.

Bolden led Georgia Tech with 21 points, including 4-of-8 shooting from three.

The Hurricanes led by 11 at halftime and appeared to be in control of the game for the first 30 minutes. Durand Scott had 17 points and Shane Larkin had 12, but the Yellow Jackets would not be deterred in their quest for their first win over a ranked team all season.

Georgia Tech can now make it two in a row on Saturday when it visits Chestnut Hill to close out the regular season against Boston College. The two teams are currently tied in the ACC standings at 6-11.
